UNISON supports equality at every level, including helping to end Afro hair discrimination in our schools. As a union we have a key part to play to bring about equality in every aspect of the education system.

  • The organisers of World Afro Day have launched a film competition that opens today! Young people (aged 10-18) can enter with a 2 minute film on Afro hair and what it means to them. The competition closes on Friday 23rd July and winners will be announced in September as part of the World Afro Day celebrations. You can find out more on the World Afro Day website.

The All Party Parliamentary Group for Race Equality in Education will also discuss Afro hair discrimination in schools at an event on 8th June at 6pm. UNISON members can register here.
