Staffordshire County Council has asked UNISON to review the current facilities time agreement. This is the agreement which enables Staffordshire UNISON Stewards to spend time supporting County Council union members appropriately with employment issues such as sickness management, health and safety concerns, bullying, disciplinary investigations, restructures etc. To do our job properly at a time of austerity, service cutbacks, increased workloads for council staff, and mental health difficulties we need more facilities time and not less.

Staffordshire UNISON and the County Council will meet to discuss and plan a satisfactory way forward. Staffordshire UNISON will keep members and Stewards fully informed regarding developments. We value the ongoing support of members but are only effective as a union branch if members become positively engaged in the work that we undertake on their behalf.
