In view of the increasing numbers of enquiries at the Branch Office by UNISON members following the County Council elections on 1/5/25, please find the following Statement from the Branch:

The primary role of Staffordshire UNISON is to support and represent our members across the whole of Staffordshire, irrespective of whom they are employed by.  Staffordshire UNISON strives to ensure that all workers in the County receive a fair day’s pay for their labours and are treated respectfully and with dignity at work. We also struggle to ensure that the Staffordshire public can continue to receive decent public services, but need the active support of our growing membership if we are to succeed.

If you are not already a UNISON member then I urge you to join because we are always stronger together than apart.

We acknowledge the change of political control at our biggest employer, Staffordshire County Council, and will engage with the controlling group exactly as we have done previously with whichever political group has run Staffordshire County Council in recent years.

Staffordshire UNISON will oppose with all legitimate means available any attempt by an employer to impose change on existing workplace terms and conditions which will hinder the ongoing efficiency of the excellent work already being provided by hardworking and underpaid local government workers on behalf of Staffordshire residents.

Mike Vaughan, Staffordshire UNISON Branch Secretary
