Research from Dr Amanda Holt at the University of Roehampton about violence from pupils towards teaching assistants has now been published.
Amanda presented the early findings of the research at this year’s UNISON schools seminar in May and held workshops on the issue with Carol Garfield, vice chair of the National Schools Committee.
This is the first academic research carried out in this area (with previous UNISON surveys providing a background for the work), and most of the participants were UNISON teaching assistants. The research has been covered in a news story in the Guardian. The article can be found here.
